When looking for doula support you will want qualified caring individuals to meet your customized needs. Central Alberta Doulas is an innovative agency with doulas of various qualifications and specialties; all who are formally trained, must do continuing education every year and comply our scope of standards. Our services include birth and postpartum support, an extensive lending library, classes and support for one year after birth. We specialize in multiple births, vaginal birth after caesarean (VBACs), surrogates and have experience with many other birthing circumstances. We partner with you to assure your comfort, peace of mind and a healthy positive experience. We are devoted to high standards of doula care and will exceed your expectations of expertise.
We work things a little different from most doula support. Let me explain how Central Alberta Doulas works. When you hire us for birth doula services, you receive two doulas. Your two doulas will be at the prenatal visits and home visit. You always have access to both of them throughout your pregnancy via phone, text or email for questions, concerns and keeping in touch. They share a call schedule (generally one week on, one week off) so whichever one of your doulas is on call when you go into labour, will be the doula who provides the support during your labour and delivery. We are intentionally structured like this so that you never have to worry about ‘what if my doula is at another birth? what if my doula is sick? what if my doula has an emergency?’. We are able to guarantee you the support you sign up for this way. Another great benefit is that with our two doula structure, we are able to go on call for you the moment you sign the contract! So in the event (and of course we would never want this to happen), but in the event that you should have your baby early, your doulas would be committed to attending your birth. In other practices found elsewhere, it’s very common to have your doula go on call at 37th or 38th weeks.
A big thing to know about a doula is that we do not take over support from loved ones. We work within the partners comfort level and share ideas of how to comfort the one they love during an intense time. We also can spell your birth support off so they can take a break and not worry.
