I have always liked helping people. It started when I was young, babysitting toddlers and infants. I started volunteering at the local hospital and nursing home and thrived knowing I made a difference.
Through my school years, many people suggested I should become a nurse. Instead I turned to support work for people with developmental disabilities. I have earned several certifications for non-violent crisis intervention, first aid and infant CPR and more. I became interested in birth during my pregnancy with my first child. I would read and research different philosophies, and the best recommendations.
Fast forward to August of 2016 I was ready to become a birth expert and I trained as a labour and postpartum doula with ProDoula. I believe in continuing my education to gain more knowledge on research and recommendations to better serve families. I am currently attaining my Stillbirthday Certification to support families through any outcome.
I feel doula support is an incredible advantage many families choose while making their birth plan. I also believe having an extra set of hands and experience can smooth out the transition to becoming parents and starting their lives at home. I have a desire to support families through fertility, adoption, pregnancy, surrogacy, birth, and offer help after the birth for parents, baby and family
