Mentoring

confused lady

Are you a new doula? Or looking to take your doula training? Taking your training can be super exciting but also leave you feeling overwhelmed and confused. What next? How do you find clients? What do you need to do? How do you choose a certifying organization? Do you need a Facebook page? What happens at prenatal visits?

I can help you with feeling more confident and ready to assist clients with any training you choose to take. When looking for a training organization you will need to find one that suits your beliefs and thoughts. Some offer distance leaning and others have in person workshops. Look at their scope of practise and code of ethics to make sure the organization aligns with your own beliefs before signing up. There are MANY options out there! Once you decide on that I am here to help!

During any mentoring session I will be happy to work on the areas where you have questions, concerns or feel you need more help. This could be how to do interviews, setting up a facebook page, putting together your doula bag, comfort measures, prenatal visits, websites, organization, dealing with hospital staff, difficult situations, help understanding the certification process or anything else you need help with.

Mentoring might include:

  • handouts
  • showing techniques
  • watching videos
  • sharing ideas
  • role playing
  • hands on

My background is a Birth Doula, Postpartum Doula, Childbirth Educator, Hypno-Doula, Bereavement Doula and Agency owner.  I had the privilege of helping teach the DONA birth doula training twice now and I loved it! So I am familiar with the training and have helped with that in the last few years. I have been supporting families on a full time basis in Central Alberta since 2012 as a birth doula and teaching prenatal classes since 2015.  I also do social media for several businesses and have taken courses on the subject so I am happy to help you set up your Facebook page. I have also built and maintain several websites and can help with websites if done in WordPress. And more recently I took over as head organizer for a local trade show I’ve been helping with for the last couple of years.
